In this project, we used the skills we learned in previous assignments to create a body, stack, hitch magnet, hitch peg, axle peg, linkage peg, cow catcher, wheels, and a train track in Inventor. Then we used multiple constraints to assemble the parts into a model train.
Conclusion Questions
1. Why are drawings composed of different line conventions?
To show all aspects of a part
2. What is the purpose of a sectional view?
Its purpose is to show the viewer or manufacturer the inside of a section of the part.
3. What is the purpose of an auxiliary view?
Its purpose is to better show angled surfaces.
4. Why are symbols used instead of words to identify hole types?
It takes up less space, and is universal so others that are not from your state or school can understand what you're trying to show.
5. What advantage is there to using algebraic equations instead of numerical values when defining the dimensions of a CAD model?
You can use the algebraic equations to find other dimensions, and dimensions can be more accurately found.
6. What three types of constraints can be applied to CAD Sketches and models?
Geometric, numerical, symmetrical
7. What advantages to CAD drawings have over paper sketches?
They are neater, more precise, and easier to make.
